Le Régiment de Joliette — Canadian Cap Badge, WWII era
This is the King’s Crown cap badge for Le Régiment de Joliette, a French-Canadian infantry regiment based in Joliette, Quebec. The badge is brass with a silver-tone centre shield (the coat of arms of the Lanaudière family), a wreath of maple leaves, a beaver at the base, and the regimental motto “QUEM TIMEBO” (meaning “Whom shall I fear?”) on the scroll. The King’s Crown at the top dates it to the WWII period (George VI, 1936–1952).
The regiment mobilised its 1st Battalion for active service in January 1942. It served in Newfoundland on garrison duty from January 1943 to February 1944, then embarked for Great Britain in January 1945, where it was disbanded to provide reinforcements to the First Canadian Army.
