Northern Scouts cap badge.

Cast white metal cap badge with 2 rear loop fixings and a central brass star. The Northern Scouts originated from the Gilgit Scouts, raised by British India in 1913 to guard Jammu and Kashmir’s northern frontier in rugged Gilgit-Baltistan. In 1949, post-partition, the Gilgit Scouts split, with the Northern Scouts handling external defense operations in areas like Skardu and Astor. They played key roles in the 1947-48 Kashmir War, capturing strategic points before merging into the Northern Light Infantry Regiment in 1975.
