WWI National Savings Badge (Swastika Design)
This rare First World War National Savings badge was issued around 1915–1916 to supporters of the National War Savings Committee. Early badges featured the swastika as a traditional good-luck symbol, commonly used in Britain long before it gained any political meaning.
At the time, the swastika represented prosperity, fortune, and support for the national war effort. Its use was completely unrelated to later associations. When the symbol became linked with Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the Committee quickly removed it from all designs, making these early versions increasingly hard to find.
This example is the black-enamel square type, one of the most desirable variants for collectors.
