1939 dated Luftwaffe aluminium spoon, FL.U.V. stands for Flieger-Unterkunfts-Verwaltung — essentially the Luftwaffe Flight Barracks Administration. This hallmark is commonly found on Luftwaffe mess cutlery, especially spoons and forks issued to air force ground and airmen dining facilities.
W.S.M. and the clover logo
The four-leaf clover with “W.S.M.” is a manufacturer’s mark:
• The clover is associated with Walter Solbach Metallbau, a German metalworks firm.
• W.S.M. appears on aluminum cutlery parts like spoons and often in combination with FL.U.V on Luftwaffe mess items.
The “39” after the mark indicates the year of manufacture — 1939.
The “F.I.U.V.” stamped on the reverse is just a stylized version of the FL.U.V. mark (with “l” often rendered like an uppercase I). It still means the same Flieger-Unterkunfts-Verwaltung
