90th Foot, Perthshire Volunteers Light Infantry officer’s gilt button

very fine and handsome example of the 90th Foot, Perthshire Volunteers Light Infantry officer’s gilt button of 21mm size, showing the regimental number within a crowned strung bugle. The benchmark appears to be Firmin but its not very sharp.

This seems to be scarcer variety than the standard pattern with a simple 90 within a circle, the only style shown in Ripley 179. An example of the design with the bugle is shown in Squire  plate 24/11 but it is brass other ranks version with the comment that it was worn for a short time before 1871.
