Federation of Malaya Home Guard / National Service Badge, circa 1950 - 1963

Chromed metal with coloured enamel detailing.

Malaysian National Service Home Guard badge Die-stamped chrome with painted flag Original pugri broach pin back. 

These were worn by the local HG villagers armed with shotguns etc., and the badge was worn on their everyday clothes.

A laurel wreath enclosing strap inscribed “Jawatan Perkhidmatan”, within the strap the Malaysian flag. Above the strap, joining the tops of the wreath, a scroll inscribed “National Service”, below the wreath a scroll inscribed “Home Guard”.

The Federation of Malaya was a federation of 11 states (nine Malay states and two of the British Straits Settlements, Penang and Malacca) that existed from 31 January 1948 until 16 September 1963. The Federation became independent on 31 August 1957.
