Hong Kong Civil Aid Service (CAS) Cap Badge, Colonial era
A genuine cap badge of the Hong Kong Civil Aid Service (CAS), a uniformed auxiliary force established in 1952 under the British colonial government of Hong Kong to support search and rescue, civil defence and emergency relief operations, modelled on Civil Aid organisations in Britain.
The badge is circular, with “HONG KONG” running around the outer rim, surmounted by a Queen’s crown (St Edward’s Crown pattern), above the interlaced “CAS” monogram at the centre. The crown confirms a colonial-era issue, predating the 1997 handover, after which the crown and crest were removed from CAS insignia and replaced with the bauhinia emblem.
