Title:
Imperial German Prussian crown brass tunic buttons, pre-1915 pattern, pair (22mm and 20mm)

Description:
A pair of original Imperial German army brass uniform buttons, each with the Prussian royal crown on a pebbled field within a raised plain rim. This rimmed pattern was worn on the field grey Waffenrock before the simplified, rimless M1915 buttons were introduced, so these date from around 1907 to 1915 and were in service in the early part of the First World War.

The larger button measures approximately 22mm and is the size used on the tunic front. The smaller measures approximately 20mm, the size used on pockets, shoulder straps and cuffs. Both are hollow backed with their original loop shanks intact. The crowns show slight differences in detail, indicating two different makers' dies.

Condition: good for age, with even patina and some verdigris to the back of the larger button.
