This flat gilt 25mm button bears the numerals XXII within a scroll beneath a Victorian crown, with the word DRAGOONS along the lower arc – the regimental device of the 22nd (Light) Dragoons, one of the most colourful cavalry units to serve the British Crown in India.
The reverse carries the backmark of Pitt & Co., 31 Maddox Street, London W., placing the date of manufacture between 1902 and 1914.
