On War Service 1915 Believed to be Ransomes & Rapier Ltd of Ipswich. Read the monogram as "R & R" with a large "L" and small "TD" tucked inside, which spells R & R LTD. Ransomes & Rapier was a major British maker of railway equipment and later cranes, based at Waterside Works in Ipswich, and it became a limited company in 1896 as Ransomes & Rapier Limited. During the First World War they produced shells, guns and tank turrets, and their managing director Sir Wilfred Stokes invented the Stokes mortar. That makes them exactly the kind of firm that would produce and issue this badge.
