A superb quality Victorian officer's button of the 2nd Dragoon Guards (Queen's Bays), c.1837 to 1880. Two-part gilded brass, about 26mm, with the Queen Victoria crown above an eight-pointed star, garter and BAYS in Old English script. Backmarked Jennens & Co London. This is the pattern in use when the Bays were rushed to India for the Indian Mutiny and charged at the capture of Lucknow in 1858. Crisp detail and lovely gilding throughout.
