Victorian British Army Royal Regiment of Artillery officer's button, c.1840 to 1855. The design shows three guns beneath a Victorian crown, with the "Ubique" motto scroll below the lower gun. This scroll was only added to Royal Artillery buttons between 1840 and 1855, which makes it a short-lived pattern. Made by R. E. Hayward of Bouverie Street, London, a military button maker recorded at 21 Bouverie Street in the 1844 Post Office Directory. Fire gilded brass, 24mm diameter, with the full maker's backmark and original shank. In absolutely mint condition, with bright, crisp gilding and sharp detail throughout.
