During the Victorian era when this button style was used its postings included India (where it suppressed the Moplah rebellion in 1873) and Burma from 1879. ∙ In 1881 it was merged with the 52nd (Oxfordshire) Regiment of Foot to form The Oxfordshire Light Infantry under the Childers Reforms.
