Large 23mm white metal Shrewsbury Borough Police existed as a separate force from 1836 to 1947 — a run of 111 years. In 1947 the Shropshire Constabulary absorbed Shrewsbury Borough Constabulary, and then in 1967 Shropshire Constabulary itself was amalgamated with Worcestershire Constabulary, Herefordshire Constabulary and Worcester City Police to form the West Mercia Constabulary.
