A scarce St Helena Rifles white metal cap badge — a genuinely uncommon Commonwealth/colonial badge from one of the most remote British territories in the world.
The badge carries the historic arms of the Colony of St Helena: a heraldic shield depicting a three-masted sailing ship before the island's cliffs, surmounted by a strung bugle horn (the universal emblem of Rifle regiments) with a small floral spray, all within flanking sprays and a title scroll reading “ST. HELENA RIFLES.”
The St Helena Rifles was the volunteer/territorial infantry unit of the island, reformed at the outbreak of the Second World War and disbanded in 1947. Surviving badges are seldom seen on the market.
Material/finish: White metal. Reverse fitting: Slider. Approx. size: 49 × 41 mm.
Condition: Good, with attractive even tone consistent with age.
Guaranteed original and authentic. Gradia Militaria does not sell reproductions — every item is backed by over 50 years of collecting and dealing expertise.
