Stamford School Officer Training Corps (OTC) uniform button

school crest, which depicts a swan in a nest with the motto "Me Spede" on a scroll beneath it. The button is approx 25 mm across made of brass by THE ALDERSHOT STORES.

The school's crest is a historical emblem adopted from William Browne, a medieval wool merchant who re-endowed the school. The swan (or more accurately, a stork, as a rebus on his wife Margaret's maiden name of Stoke) is depicted sitting on a wool bale.
