The Barbados Regiment white metal cap badge With 2 rear loop fixings.
The Barbados Regiment traces its origins to the island’s early colonial militias, but it formally emerged in 1948, when the old Barbados Volunteer Force was reorganised into a modern infantry unit. It later served within the short-lived West Indies Federation’s defence force (1958–1962) before returning to Barbados control.
Today, the Regiment is still active as the land component of the Barbados Defence Force, formed in 1979. It consists of regular and reserve battalions and is responsible for internal security, disaster relief, ceremonial duties, and regional cooperation through the Caribbean’s Regional Security System (RSS).
Over the decades, the Barbados Regiment has supported peacekeeping, hurricane response operations, and joint training with allied forces, maintaining an important role in the island’s defence and civil protection.
