Large 23mm white metal button in very good condition.
The "Ld" or "Ltd" in the backmark helps date this button. Gaunt became a limited company in 1899, so a backmark carrying Ltd points to 1899 onwards. Collector listings of Gaunt backmark variants put "J R Gaunt & Son Ltd London Eng" in use from 1899. With this regiment becoming Imperial in 1901 it dates this button nicely to between 1899-1901.
