Bi-metal cap badge with rear slider. First World War (1914€“1918) €¢ The regiment raised multiple battalions for service. Served on the Western Front, Gallipoli, and Mesopotamia. Fought in major battles including the Somme, Ypres, and Passchendaele. Suffered heavy casualties and earned numerous battle honours. Second World War (1939€“1945) The 2nd Battalion became famous for its role as glider-borne troops in the Airborne Forces. Took part in Operation Husky (Sicily) and Operation Market Garden (Arnhem). The 1st Battalion served in India and Burma during the war against Japan.
