WW2 Dutch NSB (Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging) officer's sleeve/arm badge

Dutch NSB (Nationaal-Socialistische Beweging) officer's sleeve/arm badge, not simply "Netherlands socialist" but the Dutch National Socialist movement founded by Anton Mussert in 1931, which collaborated with the German occupation from 1940-45. The triangular shape, black/red felt, bullion "NSB" lettering and the bullion-worked lion shield (in the old Dutch tricolour/Prinsenvlag orange-white-blue) mark it as a hand-embroidered political leader/officer grade badge, worn on the black party tunic.

The maker’s mark:

• “AFD. XVI INTENDANCE UTRECHT” is the NSB’s own internal quartermaster stamp. The party ran its own supply system (Intendance), divided into numbered Afdelingen (departments); Afd. XVI covered the Utrecht district and issued/verified uniform items for members there.

• The “1/283” paper ticket is an issue or inventory number from that same department, which is what makes this piece traceable and desirable — most surviving examples have lost this lable.
