British Army WW2 Anti-Aircraft Command Formation Sign — Embroidered Cloth Sleeve Badge
Description:
A WW2 British Army 1st Anti-Aircraft Command formation sign, embroidered in black and red on khaki wool. The design shows a black bomber aircraft silhouette with a red sword beneath it , Good condition.

The 1st AA Division was organised on 15 December 1935 and defended London during the Battle of Britain and the Blitz. The sword was taken from the arms of the City of London. It was the first Anti-Aircraft Division, raised in 1935, composed originally of Territorials from London and the Home Counties; in 1938 it became a purely London Territorial formation. All Anti-Aircraft Divisions were disbanded in 1943, when all AA formations adopted the AA Command badge.
