An original Second World War German Army (Heer) enlisted man’s and NCO’s belt buckle (Koppelschloss), complete with its original leather attachment tab.
As expected with an original bring back it retains a good amount of green paint at the rear of the buckle and a faint trace of paint within the front of the buckle.
The buckle is die-stamped in steel with a pebbled outer field. The front features the Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika, surrounded by the motto “Gott Mit Uns” (God With Us) within a rope-twist border, with an oak leaf spray below. The reverse is a mirror image of the front and retains the original two-prong catch, prong bar, and belt bar, all intact and functional. The original leather tab is attached and shows an oval maker’s or date stamp to the reverse, partially legible. The buckle and tab display honest age-related wear and patina throughout, consistent with period service use.
