WW2 NORTHAMPTONSHIRE YEOMANRY cloth shoulder title (Normandy unit)

Rare badge in great condition , removed from uniform.

The 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry landed in Normandy on 13-14 June 1944 at Le Hamel, equipped with Sherman and Sherman Firefly tanks as part of the independent 33rd Armoured Brigade. Attached to whichever infantry division needed armour support, the regiment fought through the Battle for Caen, including Operation Charnwood and Operation Pomegranate, before taking part in Operation Totalize in August 1944, where Trooper Joe Ekins of the regiment destroyed four German tanks, including three Tiger Is, in a single day near Saint-Aignan-de-Cramesnil.
