• “US ACC” = United States Allied Control Commission, worn by American personnel assigned to the tripartite (Soviet/British/American) body that administered occupied Hungary under the armistice terms

• “AMERICA” / “MAGYARORSZÁG” (Hungarian for “Hungary”) frame a red-and-white striped shield, echoing the Hungarian national arms colors combined with US-style stripe styling

• the ACC was a military-led administrative body set up to rule former enemy states occupied by the Allies after WWII, and the status of the US and UK representatives on it was a major point of contention in the postwar negotiations

• Major General William S. Key led the US Military Representation on the ACC for Hungary, so this patch would have been worn by his staff and the small US military mission based in Budapest, 1945-1947, until the commission was dissolved after the Hungarian peace treaty
